Cómpeta
Andalusia in the Heart
At the foot of the Sierra Almijara, overlooking the
Mediterranean Sea, the white village of Cómpeta
welcomes its guests. It can be reached via mountain
roads from two points on the coast in just 30
minutes. From Malaga, Cómpeta is only 50
kilometres away.
Suddenly you come upon the town, like a gift from
heaven, all dressed in white with the Sierras Tejeda,
Almijara and Alhama in the background.
Explore the narrow streets, experience the cuisine of
Andalusia or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery. You
will find typical food in the many restaurants where
you will be welcomed as a friend. Hospitality is
another characteristic of this place.
The wine, sultanas and almonds, along with tropical
fruits are some of the delicacies you must try.
Cómpeta offers you a wide range of cultural and
sporting activities, several sports facilities and an
extensive network of hiking trails across the sierra to
the hidden paradise of "Sierra Almijara".
The history of Cómpeta dates back to Roman times.
The name means "crossroads" and "meeting place".
About 38 different nationalities live in Cómpeta
today, who have lost their hearts to the land and its
people.
